Mission & Vision
We are proud to look back at the adaption of our cultural heritage classical Music and Fine Arts from the traditional Gurukul System to that of the institutionalised teaching system. Established in the year 2008, Raja Mansingh Tomar Sangit evam Kala Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior (M.P.) is a befitting tribute to a generous Music loving Ruler Raja Mansingh Tomar (1486-1516), a King of Gwalior Tomar Rajvansh. He was a real promoter of the ancient Indian Music, Arts and Sculpture. The present university symbolises the great effort of the king towards the learning of Art and Music in India. The dreams of Tansen, Baiju Babra and stalwarts of Gwalior Gharana the oldest Gharana of Indian Music, having Vocal, Instrumental and Dance all aspects, will be truly fulfilled with great and positive Endeavour by us. This is the first and foremost university of M.P. having five faculties viz:- Music, Dance, Fine Arts, Theatre and Social Sciences and has affiliation of nearby 123 colleges of M.P. so far. These five faculties have broad syllabus of the concerned areas. The University is committed to further strengthening its multiple facets and activities in Music and in other form of visual and Performing Arts in theory, Practical and their academics. We also enthrals the quality teaching and practical training to enable our students to be more efficient and capable in terms of their job placement skill and in becoming a reputed artists of National and global level in the modern India according to the theme and views, visions of New Education Policy- 2020. Universities are the sacred place of highest learning and education and we are intending to create holistic learner, centric research oriented environment with proper infrastructure education, training and research oriented opportunities and also to develop research activities in all form of Music and Arts. Apart from that we wish to Cross pollinate with new ideas, new technologies, new platforms and worldview as per new N.E.P. to establish University as a shine, for all the art discipline and community. About the Vice - ChancellorBorn (1957) in a renowned family of traditional Musicians (Bhagalpur – MISHRA GHARANA), Prof. Pt. Sahitya Kumar Nahar is now amongst the leading and established Musician and Sitar player of the Country. Prof. Nahar has his training in Classical Music, Tabla and later on Sitar, since childhood, by his Father-Guru Late Prof. Pt. Prahlad Prasad Mishra “DAAS-PIYA”, a renowned Musician, Vocalist and Ex. Director, Institute of Music, Patna University, Patna (Bihar). Prof. Nahar has also got lessons from his uncles Late Pt. Kedar Nath Mishra, Late Pt. Ram Naresh Mishra, Elder brother Pt. Sangeet Kumar Nahar and Later from renowned Musician Late Prof. Pt. Ramashray “Ram Rang”. Prof. Nahar has also been blessed with the melodious excellence and patronage of Padmbhushan Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, a Sitar maestro of Maihar Gharana. Prof. Nahar is a Science and Law graduate from Patna University, Patna. He has also obtained M.A. (Music-Sitar) degree from I.K.S. University, Khairagarh securing 1st class 1st position in 1983. He has been awarded D.Phil. and D.Litt. Degrees from the University of Allahabad in 1990 and 2000 respectively. Apart from that Prof. Nahar has also obtained Sangeet Praveen in Music (Sitar) securing 1st class 1st position and Gold Medal and 1st class 2nd position and Silver Medal in Music (Vocal) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Prof. Pt. Sahitya Nahar is a regular performer from A.I.R. since last 42 years and Doordarshan too and at present in Top Grade awarded Artist. Prof. Nahar is teaching in the Department of Music and Performing Arts University of Allahabad since Jan. 1981 and was working presently in the post of Professor (Music) Since Dec. 2003. Eighteen Students have already been awarded D.Phil. degree in Music so far and 06 are presently working under his research supervision. Two Books and several research Papers/Articles in Music has been to the credit to him. He has been awarded many prestigious awards mainly “SUR-MANI”, U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy Award-2014 and Award of Excellence by the University of Allahabad- 2016. Prof. Nahar has served to the various learned bodies viz : Board of studies, faculty board, Academic Council, Board of Management, Research degree committee of the various Universities in North India since long time and was invited also in the selection committee as external subject Expert at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, B.H.U. Varanasi, Vishwa Bharti Shanti Niketan, Jaipur, Banasthali, Amritsar, Patiala etc. Prof. Pt. Sahitya Nahar has presented his Sitar Recital in National Programme of Music of A.I.R. and Doordarshan several times, in Aakashwani Sangeet Sammelan (2008 & 2012) and also in so many prestigious Music conferences in all the major cities of our country. He is also an Empanelled artist of I.C.C.R. and visited Venezuela, Mexico and Colombia in Jan.-Feb. 2017 sponsored by I.C.C.R. Govt. of India, New Delhi for the performances. Prof. Pt. Nahar has composed several composition, three new Ragas and Ten Saraswati Vandana to pay homage to his Father-Guru.
